Born in India, Ramaa Krishnan came to the United States in 1998, where she opened a yoga center in Chicago to teach others the lessons she has learned from her Hindu faith about meditation and self-awareness. Our universal impluse, she says, is a need to move from fear to faith.

The Rev. Jacqui Lewis is Senior Minister of Middle Collegiate Church in New York City, the oldest Protestant congregation in America, founded in 1628. She says when the church can celebrate its diversity of cultures, races, classes, genders, it is a rehearsal for the reign of God and a model to the world of what it means to be a Beloved Community.
